Atmospheric sciences teachers participated in AOGS 2018 international conference in Hawaii, USA

On June 8, 2018, a group of teachers from the school of atmospheric science including Jun Wen, Quanliang Chen, Yu Zhang, Minhong Song, Xiaohang Wen, Hongke Cai and Tingting Liao, attended and gave a presentation at the Asian and Oceanian Geoscience Society (AOGS) conference in Hawaii, the United States.

Founded in 2003, AOGS is an Asian and oceanian earth scientists’ academic organization devoted to communication and discovery, focusing on earth and environment issues of human concern. AOGS holds an annual academic conference every year. At the academic conference, renowned scholars were invited to give a presentation on major issues of human concern, such as the earth and the environment, at a lecture named after the renowned space physicist Axford. This is the 15th annual meeting of the congress, held in Hawaii, USA. AOGS has eight chapters covering atmospheric science, biogeoscience, hydrology science, interdisciplinary earth science, Marine science, planetary science, sun and earth science and solid earth science. Each chapter will be published in oral reports and wall newspapers to promote the publicity and communication of the latest research trends and academic achievements in the research field.

Atmospheric sciences teachers participated in the atmospheric science branch exchange, talking around the latest academic achievements of the college and communication, hosted by our department is “Water Cycle Observational and Satellite Remote Sensing Data Products and Their Applications”. Jun Wen delivered an academic lecture on “Experimental Studies on the land-atmospheric Interactions over the Source Region of the Three Rivers”. Xiaohang Wen,  Hongke Cai and Tingting Liao respectively delivered oral reports on “Establishment and analysis of a high-resolution communication Dataset of the water-energy process in China”, “Optical Properties of Cirrus Transition Zones over China Detected by CALIOP” and “Air stagnation and its impact on air quality during winter in Sichuan and Chongqing, southwestern China”. Quanliang Chen, Yu Zhang, Minhong Song and Hongke Cai displayed the research results of “Impacts of the Tropical Pacific Cold Tongue Mode on El Nino Diversity Under Global Warming”, “Diurnal and Seasonal Variations in Surface Parameters over an Alpine Meadow Ecosystem”, “Water Vapor Transportation Over Northwest China in Summer”, “Spatial and Temporal Features of the Frequency of Cloud Occurrence Over China Based on CALIOP” respectively.

This conference gathered more than 3000 researchers from major international geological research institutions. During the meeting, atmospheric science college teachers and other research institutions personnel carried out extensive and in-depth exchanges, obtained the the latest research methods and achievements in the field of related, and actively seeking international cooperation, raised the international profile of the school of atmospheric sciences, especially the related research achievements of the research region in southwest China.
