Atmospheric sciences institute’s teachers went to Hawaii to attend the AOGS 2018 international conference
June 2 to 8, 2018, a row teachers from institute of atmospheric science (Jun Wen, Quanliang Chen, Yu Zhang, Min-hong Song, Xiaohang Wen, Hongke Cai and Tingting Liao) participated in the AOGS (Asian and Oceanian Geoscience Society) meeting and made a report in Hawaii, USA.
AOGS, founded in 2003, is an academic organization of geoscientists from Asia and Oceania for the exchange of academic knowledge and discovery, which with a special focus on earth and environmental issues of human concern. AOGS holds an academic annual conference every year. During the academic conference, famous scholars are invited to give a lecture at the named of Axford (famous space physicist) on major issues concerning the earth and environment of human concern. This time is the 15th annual meeting, held in Hawaii, USA. AOGS consists of eight chapters, and research field includes atmospheric science, biology, earth science, hydrological science, interdisciplinary science, ocean science, planetary science, earth science, sun and the earth science and solid earth science, and every branch publishes with the form of oral presentations, wall newspaper to promote preach and communication about the latest developments in scientific research and academic achievement on research field.
Teachers from institute of atmospheric sciences participated in the exchange of the branch of atmospheric sciences, around college’s latest academic achievements to preach and communicate, our institute presided over the “Water Cycle Observational and Satellite Remote Sensing Data Products and Their Applications “section. Jun Wen gave an academic presentation on “Experimental Studies on the land-atmosphere Interactions over the Source Region of the Three Rivers”. Xiaohang Wen, Hongke Cai and Tingting Liao respectively published oral reports on “Establishment and analysis of a High Resolution Assimilation Dataset of the water-energy process in China”, “Optical Properties of Cirrus Transition Zones over China Detected by CALIOP” and “Air stagnation and its impact on Air quality during winter in Sichuan and Chongqing, southwestern China”. Quanliang Chen, Yu Zhang, Minhong Song and Hongke Cai respectively published the research results in poster shows: “Impacts of the Tropical Pacific Cold Tongue Mode on El Nino Diversity Under Global Warming”, “Diurnal and Variations in Surface Parameters over an Alpine Meadow Ecosystem”, “Water Vapor Transportation Over Northwest China in Summer” and “Spatial and Temporal Features of the Frequency of Cloud Occurrence Over China Based on CALIOP”.
This meeting brought together more than 3000 scientific research personnel from main international geological research institutions. During conference, teachers from atmospheric science institute carried out extensive and in-depth exchanges with other scientific research institutions personnel, obtained the latest research methods and results in related research field, actively seeking international cooperation, promoted the world awareness about the related research achievements of atmospheric science institute, especially in the southwest China’s regionalism research.
